India sold over 1.6 million electric vehicles in 2024 — a 40% jump over the previous year. By 2030, EV penetration is projected to reach 30% of new vehicle sales, driven by government mandates, falling battery costs, and rapidly expanding charging infrastructure. Behind every EV on the road is a growing ecosystem of technicians, engineers, and system integrators who need specialised skills that traditional automotive training simply does not cover.

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) estimates that the EV sector will require over 2 million skilled workers by 2030. Today, India has the training capacity to produce a fraction of that number.
